LIVEJOURNAL

Hello. Just checking in.
I'm trying to keep my inking brush wet, even though I am extremely busy finishing up my accounting degree. "Did she say accounting?" Yes, accounting. I need a day job that is consistently in demand (the accounting profession predates money somehow), pays well, doesn't involve customer service and won't take over my entire life, so accounting it is.
Skullyflower has been in a holding pattern for the last few years. This is hopefully going to change pretty soon after I graduate, depending on whatever job I wind up getting, and where I wind up living.
In the mean time I am slowly (very, very slowly) inking the third Sammy and Syd comic and will post bits as I finish them. I've actually put all of the comics back up on my website. I took them down, thinking that people might buy more if they couldn't read them for free, but sales didn't improve, so they are back up.
It's been a rough month. Tom's father passed away, (I still can't believe that I won't be seeing him anymore) and the emotional climate has been all over the place.
When things get tough for me to deal with, my imagination goes crazy and starts telling me ridiculous stories which I almost believe.

This time I only wanted to get famous so that the British comedians, Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt might pay attention to me, because I just know it would be so fun to sit around laughing and joking with them all day, and that that is, of course, all that they ever do, so once I was
in, that's all that I would have to do and life would be one never ending party.
There are worse ways to cope.
I think I might finally be getting over this Might Boosh obsession now. Maybe.

Sad times
I do this and sometimes I even get away with it. The rest of the time I have choppy, odd hair. I'm trying to grow it out, too. #@%^$!
ADDENDUM:
I also got off of my self-pity pot today and worked on some comics. I finished pencils for the next Sammy and Syd comic. It's twice as long as the first 2 and I'm very pleased with how it's coming out so far.

There are a few new doodles too, just click the pic.

Some Crazy Thing I Did For School
My Dream JobI'm studying accounting in the hopes that I'll be able to support myself on a less than full time schedule and have more ART MAKING TIME.
I tried to express that with the line of accounting documents, supporting a bunch of crazy Skullyflower stuff, above a comfortable, open, friendly office.
Dressing properly for an office job has always stressed me out. I just despise most women's clothing. I wish I could pull off a man's suit, but I'm too curvy. So, since this is my dream, I just grabbed some dude's body and stuck my head on it.

2009 Comic
2009 was mostly about me getting comfortable at school:

I started to do a comic about the decade, still may, but needed to break it down; I am so easily overwhelmed.
I'm going home to California for a week to recharge my batteries. I'm hoping to get drawing lots comics (and find an internship!!) in the weeks before school starts.
I'm being lazy about screen printing and putting stuff up for sale in the shop, but no one is buying anything anyway.

Got sick of looking at that last mopey post.
I'm Free for the Month...
I didn't leave the couch for a few days there, but I'm back scribbling. I just started 5 different comics. Don't know how many will get finished. I become a nervous wreck about inking or even drawing for real. I forget it's just comics and to have fun.

Now it's just Winter
Cold Man Winter gave us a 4 day, rainy break from the snow; just long enough to ruin the whole White Christmas thing, but the snow is back now!
Not too much happening artistically, but I did finally excavate the floor of my art room, so at least there is space for me in there now.
ALSO I got a button/badge making machine for XMess so I can now make buttons! It's so exciting. I've been a button making fool all weekend until I ran out of button bits. I got more on order but the supplier's warehouse is closed until the 4th so I probably won't have more to play with until I get back from my trip.
Jan 6 - 15th I will be visiting my home turf for the first time in over 2 years! I'm from california and I miss everyone back in the bay area so much.

Happy Happy Gift-Mas

I'm enjoying the light snow flurries this year. Hope it stays mellow.
Rochester doesn't roll that way, but I can hope.
Enjoy whatever you do, or don't do.
PS: There are a few new doodles in the
sketchbook, too.

Sometimes...

All too often, this is true.
Just saying "hi!" to the weekend lj checking people. I have one more test tomorrow and then I'm free (to sit around making myself miserable for a month).
Actually, I will be visiting my home turf in early January and couldn't be more excited about it. It's friendly out here and all, but there is this base line difference to
everything (and all this snow). I miss my home.
Tee shirt printing projects have been going well, if slowly. New skullyflower shirts are great. I finally came to my senses about that tiny little image. I think it was originally that way because I started my screen printing career using embroidery rings for frames. Then I kinda liked it and got a bunch too many printed. But now I think having the design larger is the way to go. It looks great. Some day I'll have pictures.
Anyway. Hi. Happy holidays.

Final Weeks of School
Hi, just wanted to say hello.
Sorry it's been slow around here. I'm busy finishing up the semester. I have needed to focus on papers and projects. I only have one more semester to go after this one! I am working hard to get a day career going that will leave me time and energy to create for you on a more consistent basis. I hope to be bringing you folks more and better, fun art and comics in the near future.
I am hoping to have some more goodies up before it's too late to get them to you and your loved ones before Christ's Mess.
I do have some kid sized Skullyflower shirts, black with a white, distressed (poorly printed) Skullyflower Design. I'll try to post them on the website this week. But if you are interested feel free to write me. $10 bucks, small and medium sizes.
Hope your holidays and holiday preparations are going well so far. LOVE!!

Admit it, you've dated this guy
Well, It's just about national stuff your face with the relatives day, and I'm happy to say that I only have one more class for this week and then a comic club get together.
I can't believe that the semester is almost over, and that the holidays are upon us. I haven't been able to get excited about the holidays since I moved so far away from home 2 years ago, but I am finally coming home for a visit in early January!! Wooo Hooo!
AND I have new goodies for sale in the shop!
Happy TG!

Look I drew a comic
I'm starting a comic creator club at my school.

I want all the members to draw an comic introducing themselves.
I'm hoping that these will illustrate the wide variety of styles and interests of the ccc members.
We have a livejournal community MCC-CCC
Membership is limited to people really in the club, but there will be comics to look at.

Doodles
A few more doodles in the old sketchbook for you.

I'm sick and my head hurts. I spent all day trying to apply accounting principles to my online shop. It's harder than it looks. Too many of my things (like my computer) are so old I don't know what they are worth anymore.
I will be posting some new stuff in the shop soon. I really will. So stay tuned.

Things I'm working on...
July 12, 2009 11:00am
A word from the warehouse ...
Please pardon the potty mouth, but I work in a warehouse now.
My Summer job is killing me slowly -- wearing all of my parts to nubs, etc. But I'm hoping to get out of there before too much damage is done.
I've loaded up on classes again for next semester. Which means being overwhelmed with homework, but I can't wait to be a normal working slub again. This last year has been so weird. It's like the last 10 years of my working life never happened.

New Comics Series
Sammy and Syd is a new series of mini comics I've been doing.
It's a Dark Comedy about a couple of friends bungling their way into and through the after life. So far one and two completed with a third on in the works.
Check out their sweet hand printed covers!

Both are in shops now!
Portlanders (OR) can check em out at Cosmic Monkey Comics,
while New Yorker City folks can pick em up at either Forbidden Planet, or Jim Hanley's Universe.
